Taste Port Douglas Takeover, #1 – Sat 24 February
The first instalment featuring chefs, Jerry Mai and Sarah Tiong, kicks off on February 24 as part of the Month of Love at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Port Douglas.
Jerry is one of the first chefs to bring authentic Vietnamese flavours to Melbourne’s kitchens, drawing her inspiration from the places her parents lived before settling in Australia. In her early career Jerry learnt from the best in the business in Asian accented kitchens, Longrain, Seamstress and Gingerboy in Melbourne, before going on to share the flavours of her family’s kitchen at her own award-winning restaurants.
As a chef and author, Sarah pursues flavour and culture with a passion. The spicy, savoury, sour, sweet and textural joys that come from Southeast and South Asian food is what brightens Sarah’s world. She loves to share her knowledge and experiences with others through her two best-selling cookbooks, events, masterclasses and most of all her restaurant OGNI.
The chefs forged a connection while starring on Channel 10's Masterchef in 2020. Jerry appeared as a guest mentor, while Sarah competed for the second time as a season favourite contestant. Since then, they have maintained a strong professional relationship and continue to be fast friends within the industry.
To complete this dining experience we are thrilled to welcome Sam Temme, General Manager of Lloyd Brothers Winery, South Australia. Sam will be expertly pairing Lloyd Brothers & Hills + Coast wines to each course and introducing the wines in person on the night.
Snacks on arrival followed by four sit down courses paired with wines. (Snacks and course 1 – 3 by guest chefs, dessert by Harrisons)
